When Cancer Hits Home

I haven't posted in a while because I've been mulling over serious issues and I like to write about light-hearted ones.

I guess until I get this off my chest it's not going to leave my brain open for other posts, so here goes.

Cancer has hit our family.  I will not reveal the person's name unless s/he gives me permission to do so.  In the midst of 'kids' getting ready to graduate from college and move into the working world, in the throws of wedding planning, in the chaos that is redoing the kitchen, a bomb was dropped.

Cancer.

I've never had a person close to me be diagnosed with cancer before and that's saying something with how rampant it feels in today's world.

To have this come right now feels like a gut kick.  But there is good news.  It is stage one and a type that responds well to chemotherapy.

And so, preparations are being made for schedule changes and being available to drive when necessary,
to make foods that may please a disgruntled palate, to give comfort and hugs when endorphins are in short supply and most of all, to pray.

For all of you who read my blogs,  please join us in prayer.  It's going to be a long haul, more so for some  than others.  And by God's grace, by midsummer this should all be history.  Thanks ahead of time.
